I've been doing my own form of timed to-do lists, and it works great. I put everything from my to-do list into my calendar. Not just meetings and such, but tasks and projects as well. I've found that it helps balance the longer-term projects and the shorter tasks. Committing to work on the big projects in two-hour blocks helps me stay focused and identifying milestones to accomplish in that time-frame. I end each day by planning out the next two - it reduces any overnight anxiety of what the morning has in store.
